ABOUT KWIKLOG CLASSIC:

CLASSIC is largely the same program as the KWIKLOG PLUS 2000 program with additional functions with the ability to track the two  new MARAC AWARDS of  Master Platinum and Digital Awards. In addition the CLASSIC program has three additional  BOOKS for use in the future should additional awards be approved.  One of these three available books has been assigned to QRP, as so many county hunters are now working the counties QRP.  The other two books are ready for use and "will track" when you simply place a Y (for yes) in the log at the time you ADD the QSO to your log.  So this sets up CLASSIC for the future.

CLASSIC, like the current version of KWIKLOG PLUS 2000. is setup for rule changes regarding starting dates.  The program provides rollover dates that can be used for ALL AWARDS.   This is very beneficial when you are awarded a number for any award and decide to track that award again.  All that is required is that you enter the date of the award received and only Log entries dated on or after that date will post to that award.

The new CLASSIC program is a final release of KWIKLOG programs and will be made available for those county bunters that have used KWIKLOG over the years and elect NOT to switch to any new program.   The program CD will be shipped to any NEW county hunter at a cost of $40.00.  The help files located on each window pretty much covers the operation of the program

You may ask  Why pay $40.00 when there are FREE logging programs available - " Well, you will have to be the judge on that - we do know that we can not support and maintain the program as our users want for a lesser amount and break even.  KWIKLOG programs are not  money makers nor do we intend that they shall ever become such. The number of "hams" that are involved with county hunting and also log by computer  is small and the cost of development and maintenance must be passed on to these few individuals.  The county line feature, the inclusion of all major county hunter awards in the program, and  the simplified logging input procedures are just a few of the many new features found only in KWIKLOG CLASSIC.

Only KWIKLOG CLASSIC makes available constant updates on the internet.   Should it ever become necessary to re-install the program as last released,  a KWIKLOG CLASSIC CD with the latest EXE file is available from KWIKLOG shipped postpaid to you $15.00.  This CD contains only the updated exe files as the program was last shipped.

KWIKLOG CLASSIC  automatically maintains 25 different awards including, USA-CA, Master County Hunter Award (Bingo), Mobile YL, All SSB, All CW, Big Rigs, Teams, Master Gold,  5-Bands (10-15-20-40-80), 5-Stars, Transmitted counties (Counties ran) , and a Special Book of your own design,  USA-PA, and the recently approved new awards Master Platinum, and All Digital, as well as three additional slots for future awards under the heading of Special Books..   There has been some changes in award sponsorship.  In view of these changes KWIKLOG CLASSIC will be maintained to support ONLY the MARAC version of the duplicated awards but fortunately the only difference at this time is in where to send the application and the program will track the awards and prepare the book for you to ship to the sponsor of your choice.  There is a new QRP Book that allows for the tracking of all QRP QSO's with various power grouping. All book home windows now display needed counties and completed counties with a single click on the State being viewed.

A book is the term used to represent a listing of all 3,077 counties of the USA used for most awards. The program determines the eligibility of all calls worked for the various awards, and automatically places the QSO data "in the books" as you Post your log.

Four different call databases are maintained, one of which is by your own design. The program also accesses  from within, Peach3, Callbook, Buckmaster's Ham Call, QRZ, and most other widely used call database programs. The program is shipped with an up-to-date list of all USA-CA numbers, calls and upgrades as well as a file of over 3000 active county hunters, which is used to expedite the logging of QSO's.  The call database programs are not shipped or available from KWIKLOG. The recommended call database is any of the above that is available in Windows versions.   (Peach3 is not available at present in Windows format -- but it will display within the program in a DOS Window with a provided batch file that "shells" to the DOS program directory.  DO NOT put Peach files in the KWIKLOG directory)

A minimum of typing is required for operation of KWIKLOG 2000.  The program was designed to "Point and Click" Click on the two letter State abbreviation, double click on the county desired and any county line possible for that county,  Click on the Call worked, enter the  signal report or accept the default 59 or 599 report and if logging "live" that's about it except for pressing the Enter Key. Follow all type fields by the press of the enter key -- not the TAB Key". Optionally you can type in the 2- letter state abbreviation and one or more letters of the county to display the counties associated with the letters typed.  If the mobile is on a county line a list of "possible" county lines for the first county entered are also displayed for selection.  This is an unofficial list of counties adjacent to the selected county that is not separated by a "wet line".  Please advise us of any county that is not listed.  There are over 15,000 of them and I am sure we don't have them all.  Up-dates to this list is always available on this web site for free download.

All books (a book is defined as a record of all 3077 counties for a particular award) tracked are fully maintained and can be edited, needs viewed, and printed. A file of completed counties can also be created for mailing.

Also found in KWIKLOG CLASSIC on the Utilities Window are a number of sub-routines used by amateur radio operators including DX-CC, the ARRL countries list (may need to be updated and the list can be modified from within the program.), Frequency Authorization lists, Prefix Allocations, MARAC information, WAS, Capital Cities worked, QSL card inventory and  a "Shack" inventory program excellent for insurance purposes.  Also included are lists for  Last County awards sent and received, a backup program, Canadian Provinces,  Alaskan boroughs -- should you wish to track them, a routine to maintain a list of ten ten numbers worked, a routine to track YL System numbers, and for the true computer guru, a program for creating and maintaining the Net Control list of mobiles for running the Net.  When logging DX , type in a DX call and the country is automatically displayed and entered in the log for the prefix typed.

If the majority of county hunters do it - then so does KWIKLOG CLASSIC. A help file is available on most menu screens for help on the subject of the menu. The manual has not been fully updated but a new addendum file is included in the rear of the manual to cover all the new features.

Users are advised that to keep their copy of the program completely up-to-date with all modifications, improvements etc., they should keep an eye on this web site - check the download page for any updates and download any change that they feel will help them make use of the program easier.  Many of the download changes are non- functional, meaning that the change  improve appearance. makes something work a little easier, clarifies the use of an item, prevents a user error, etc., but the change does not affect the output of any data or any data  presently in the program.  If data is changed or data will be affected then the changed is tagged as a "functional change" and these should always be downloaded.

The New Book Windows (5-Star shown) that displays the new added feature of needed stars in a state by counties.

The USA-CA BOOK also shows needed counties (unconfirmed) and completed counties (confirmed)

The  QRP BOOK is one of five additional books maintained by Classic.  The new books are QRP.  Digital, Master Platinum and two Special Books, that you name yourself. These two new unnamed books are for your use in adding any two additional awards at any time in the future or to track all counties for any personal goal.   Want to track all counties that you work while on a vacation or mobile trip?  Want to track all counties worked by a particular Station?  These two books can be used for that or any other purpose you wish.  If MARAC approves a new award (such as QRP) -- no sweat use either one of these two new books or the new QRP Book.

The new Rollover Date Window

New awards have blank dates entered above to identify them for you only the master platinum has a start date.  This new feature sets up rollover dates for ALL awards.  In the past only the USA-CA Book had a provision to prevent posting of QSO's  with dates that are dated prior to getting your number and the new feature allows you to re-post any log at any time without adversely affecting a current book.

Lighthouses. Islands, and Special Events

The KWIKLOG Lighthouses, Islands and Special Events program is NOT a part of any logging program but is a separate program.  However any Lighthouses, or Islands that are within a US county are posted to a log file that will POST to any KWIKLOG Classic Book.

The Home page of the NEW Islands, Lighthouses, and Special Events logging program now completed and in Beta testing, is planned to be released at the same time as KWIKLOG CLASSIC.  It is a completely new program and does not require KWIKLOG PLUS or KWIKLOG to run, however both of those programs will be capable of importing the log file of those Island or Lighthouse awards that qualify for county hunting credits.  It will be released to anyone at a very modest shipping  and preparation fee  (to be determined soon) .  It will be issued with the understanding that there is NO technical assistance offered but it, like all KWIKLOG programs is "user friendly".  You don't need to be a computer "nerd" to run these programs.
